Tesla, the Texas-based EV manufacturer, delivered 254,695 vehicles in Q2 2022 and delivered 310,048 vehicles across the world in Q1 2022, as compared to Q1 2022, vehicle deliveries declined by 17.8% in Q2 2022.

Tesla delivered 4 different models of vehicles, namely Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y. In Q2 2022, Tesla delivered a total of 16,162 vehicles of the Model S and Model X, and delivered 238,533 vehicles of the Model 3 and Model Y. The delivery of Model S and X increased by 9.7%, whereas the delivery of Model 3 and Y dipped by 19.2% as compared to Q1 2022. In Q1 2022, Tesla’s global vehicle inventory or days of supply (DOS) was 3 days.

The two new manufacturing units: Gigafactory Texas and Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg delivered their first vehicle (Model Y) in April 2022 and March 2022 respectively.

Although Tesla’s production was limited by semiconductor chip scarcity, manufacturing challenges, and pandemic limitations, it managed to circumvent these challenges by switching to alternate solutions, thus managing to deliver a total of 564,743 vehicles in the first six months of 2022.

In order to meet its growing demand for EVs, Tesla plans to scale up its production by adding new manufacturing units (Gigafactory) and expanding its business ensuring cost-effective production and a stable supply chain. Tesla has planned to keep expanding its delivery, servicing, and charging infrastructure maintaining the reliability of its cars, and increasing the number of supercharger locations.

Days of supply (DOS) is calculated by dividing new car ending inventory by the relevant quarter’s deliveries and using 75 trading days.
