Wendy's, an American fast-food restaurant chain headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, US. In Q2 2022, Wendy’s generated quarterly revenue of $537.78 million, an increase of 10% as compared to the Q1 2022 revenue of $488.64 million.
Wendy’s segregates its revenue into four segments: Sales at Company-operated restaurants also termed “sales” ($230.87 million), Franchise royalty revenue and fees ($143.43 million), Franchise rental income ($58.61 million), and Advertising funds revenue ($104.86 million) in Q2 2022. The company’s revenue was primarily driven by stronger sales at company-operated restaurants, which were positively impacted by the acquisition of 93 franchise-operated restaurants in Florida during the fourth quarter of 2021 and an increase in franchise royalties and advertising funds, both of which rose substantially as a result of better same-restaurant sales.
Additionally, Wendy's generates revenue from royalties and national advertising. The expansion of its revenues and earnings is reliant on the establishment of additional restaurants as well as on digital orders, for online and home delivery orders.
Although sales at company-operated restaurants is the major source of revenue for Wendy’s, the number of company-operated restaurants comprised approximately 5% of the total Wendy’s restaurants as of July 3, 2022.
