Middle East and Africa: ESG Related Job Trends in the Financial Services Sector (October 2023 - January 2024)

  • The number of active ESG related job postings driven by ESG in the Financial Services sector of the Middle East and Africa region decreased by 6.85% MoM, and decreased by 12.75% since October 2023, reaching 1,074 active job postings in January 2024.

  • A total of 648 new ESG related jobs were posted in January 2024, witnessing an increase of 0.15% as compared to the previous month. On the other hand, 727 ESG related jobs were closed in the same month implying that companies took out 9.35% fewer jobs than the month earlier. For the period from October 2023 to January 2024, the number of new ESG related jobs posted decreased by 22.12% and the number of ESG related jobs closed decreased by 7.62%.

  • In terms of Compound Monthly Growth Rate (CMGR) between October 2023 and January 2024, the number of new ESG related jobs posted observed a negative growth rate of 7.99%, the number of active ESG related job postings observed a negative growth rate of 4.45% and the number of ESG related jobs closed observed a negative growth rate of 2.61%. Between October 2023 and January 2024, the average number of ESG related jobs posted stood at 751, the average number of ESG related jobs closed stood at 779 and the average number of active ESG related jobs stood at 1,191.
