Copper production in Chile

Chile has an abundance of metal and mineral resources, including gold, silver, coal, lead, iron ore, copper and zinc. The country is the world’s largest producer of copper and has the largest copper reserves.

In 2019, Chile’s copper production fell by a significant share after increasing in 2018. Lower ore grades and production disruptions, owing to adverse environmental conditions, labor strikes and operational issues, affected the country’s overall output.
