However, the number of executives from underrepresented groups remains remarkably low in major technology companies.

International Business Machines Corp (IBM) is one of the world's most powerful software, hardware, and technology services providers. In 2021, the representation of Asian employees in IBM in the US was 20.1%, an increase of 1.2 percentage points over 2020. Hispanic & Latinx and Black & African American employees represented 7.7% and 6.8% of the US workforce in 2021.

In leadership roles (executive and managers) at IBM’s US office, the representation of Asian employees was 17.1% in 2021. Black & African American employees represented 6.7% and Hispanic & Latinx employees at 6% at senior levels in the US workforce in 2021.

In 2021, over 41% of hires in IBM were women globally and in the US, 15% were Black and 10.2% were Hispanic. The company has committed to dedicating 15% of its first-tier diversity supplier spending to Black-owned businesses by 2025.
