A total of 54 Private Equity/Venture Financing deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Aerospace and Defence of the Europe region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $3,373.4 million. In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $2,049.6 million, resulting in an average deal value of $292.8 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of February 2022 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 7 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $19.0 million during that month.
Of the 54 deals, the deal secured between Bain Capital LP; JB Capital Markets, Sociedad de Valores, S.A.; SAPA Placencia SL and ITP Aero, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the Europe Aerospace and Defence sector, which was valued at $1,992.3 million and was completed on September 27, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Mudrick Capital Management, L.P. and Vertical Aerospace Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between Atlantia SpA; btov Partners AG; Honeywell Korea Ltd; Whysol Investments S.R.L.; WP Investment and Volocopter GmbH. The Mudrick Capital Management, L.P.-Vertical Aerospace Ltd deal and the Atlantia SpA; btov Partners AG; Honeywell Korea Ltd; Whysol Investments S.R.L.; WP Investment-Volocopter GmbH deal were valued at $200.0 million and $170.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Celestia Aerospace-Invema Ltd valued at $109.4 million, whereas the deal between DRONE FUND III Investment Limited Partnership-Wingcopter valued at $88.3 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $2,560.0 million and accounted for nearly 75.89% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Europe region accounted for 21.22% of the total Private Equity/Venture Financing deals done globally, and accounted for 21.86% of the total deal size on a global scale.
