A total of 71 M&A deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Global Aerospace and Defence sector, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $26,858.7 million. In the LTM period, August 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $10,956.7 million, resulting in an average deal value of $2,191.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 11 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $26.8 million during that month.
Of the 71 deals, the deal secured between Parker Hannifin Corp and Meggitt Plc, was the largest M&A deal in the Global Aerospace and Defence sector, which was valued at $10,145.4 million and was completed on August 2, 2021. The second-largest deal was between CNH Industrial NV and Raven Industries Inc, while the third-largest deal was between Amentum Services Inc and PAE Inc. The CNH Industrial NV-Raven Industries Inc deal and the Amentum Services Inc-PAE Inc deal were valued at $2,100.0 million and $1,900.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc-Alion Science and Technology Corp valued at $1,650.0 million, whereas the deal between Bharti Global Limited-OneWeb Ltd valued at $500.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $16,295.4 million and accounted for nearly 60.67% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. By region, Europe accounted for 60.95% of the total M&A deals done globally, and recorded a total deal value of $17,312.6 million, which accounted for 24.32% of the total deal size on a global scale.
