China: Five Largest Wind Energy Construction Projects Started in Q1 2022

  • With a project value of $1,434 million, the HPI – Shantou Yuedong Offshore Deepwater Site 6 Offshore Wind Farm 4000 MW – Guangdong project was the largest Wind Energy construction project in China on which construction started in Q1 2022. The HPI – Shantou Yuedong Offshore Deepwater Site 6 Offshore Wind Farm 4000 MW – Guangdong project is located in China and initially announced in Q1 2021 with an estimated completion in Q1 2026. The SEGCL – Dongying Offshore Wind Farm 480 MW – Shandong project was the second-largest project with a project value of $1,114 million, on which construction work started in Q1 2022. The SEGCL – Dongying Offshore Wind Farm 480 MW – Shandong project is located in China and initially announced in Q3 2020 with an estimated completion in Q2 2025.

  • The HZWP – Dalian Zhuanghe Offshore Wind Farm IV2 200 MW – Liaoning project was the third-largest project, the HHWWP – Zhangjiakou Yu County Wind Farm 100 MW – Hebei was the fourth-largest project, and the SEIGCL – Huidong Xiaojie Wind Farm: Phase I 160 MW – Sichuan was the fifth-largest project with a project value of $619 million, $200 million and $187 million respectively. The HZWP – Dalian Zhuanghe Offshore Wind Farm IV2 200 MW – Liaoning project located in China was announced in Q1 2019 with an estimated completion in Q2 2025, the HHWWP – Zhangjiakou Yu County Wind Farm 100 MW – Hebei project located in China was announced in Q2 2019 with an estimated completion in Q4 2024 and the SEIGCL – Huidong Xiaojie Wind Farm: Phase I 160 MW – Sichuan project located in China was announced in Q1 2021 with an estimated completion in Q4 2023.

  • Among the five largest projects, the HPI – Shantou Yuedong Offshore Deepwater Site 6 Offshore Wind Farm 4000 MW – Guangdong project is the longest in terms of completion date, with construction expected to be completed in Q1 2026.
