In the LTM period, April 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $60,975.5 million, resulting in an average deal value of $2,439.0 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 43 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $208.2 million during that month.
Of the 339 deals, the deal secured between Block Inc and Afterpay Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Financial Services sector, which was valued at $29,000.0 million and was completed on August 1, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Siam Makro Public Co Ltd and C.P. Retail Holding Company Limited, while the third-largest deal was between ESR Group Ltd and ARA Asset Management Ltd. The Siam Makro Public Co Ltd-C.P. Retail Holding Company Limited deal and the ESR Group Ltd-ARA Asset Management Ltd deal were valued at $6,704.1 million and $5,200.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between PayU-BillDesk valued at $4,700.0 million, whereas the deal between Zhongyuan Bank Co Ltd-Bank of Jiaozuo China Travel Services; Bank Of Luoyang Co Ltd; Bank of Pingdingshan Co Ltd valued at $4,496.6 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $50,100.7 million and accounted for nearly 29.47% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 35.28% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 1.73% of the total deal size on a global scale.
