On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 8 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $86.4 million during that month.
Of the 73 deals, the deal secured between PayU and BillDesk, was the largest M&A deal in the India Financial Services sector, which was valued at $4,700.0 million and was completed on August 31, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc and Fullerton India Credit Company Limited, while the third-largest deal was between HDFC Life Insurance Co Ltd and Exide Life Insurance Company Ltd. The Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc-Fullerton India Credit Company Limited deal and the HDFC Life Insurance Co Ltd-Exide Life Insurance Company Ltd deal were valued at $2,000.0 million and $915.5 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Alphabet Inc-Bharti Airtel Ltd valued at $700.0 million, whereas the deal between HSBC Asset Management (India) Private Limited-L&T Investment Management Limited valued at $425.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $8,740.5 million and accounted for nearly 12.50% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
