In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $3,031.2 million, resulting in an average deal value of $606.2 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of September 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 5 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $606.2 million during that month.
Of the 28 deals, the deal secured between Absolute Ambient and Seaview Holdings Sdn Bhd, was the largest M&A deal in the Malaysia Financial Services sector, which was valued at $2,992.5 million and was completed on September 14, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Liberty Insurance Berhad and AmGeneral Insurance Bhd, while the third-largest deal was between Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat Berhad and Kesas Sdn Bhd. The Liberty Insurance Berhad-AmGeneral Insurance Bhd deal and the Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat Berhad-Kesas Sdn Bhd deal were valued at $519.7 million and $294.4 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between ICOA, Inc.-BCMG Genesis Bitcoin Fund valued at $240.0 million, whereas the deal between Assicurazioni Generali SpA-MPI Generali Insurans Berhad valued at $72.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $4,118.5 million and accounted for nearly 96.15% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
