A total of 78 Private Equity/Venture Financing deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Foodservice of the Europe region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $39,664.7 million. In the LTM period, July 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $15,294.3 million, resulting in an average deal value of $3,058.9 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of March 2022 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 9 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $152.9 million during that month.
Of the 78 deals, the deal secured between Market Bidco Limited and Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the Europe Foodservice sector, which was valued at $13,339.6 million and was completed on August 19, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Oppidum Bidco Limited and Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc, while the third-largest deal was between CVC Capital Partners Fund VIII and Ekaterra. The Oppidum Bidco Limited-Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc deal and the CVC Capital Partners Fund VIII-Ekaterra deal were valued at $13,051.6 million and $5,104.5 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Fortress Investment Group LLC-Punch Pubs & Co valued at $1,322.1 million, whereas the deal between Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 6-RoadChef Motorways Ltd valued at $1,200.3 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $34,018.1 million and accounted for nearly 85.76% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Europe region accounted for 74.39% of the total Private Equity/Venture Financing deals done globally, and accounted for 14.21% of the total deal size on a global scale.
