A total of 127 M&A deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Global Foodservice sector, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $25,334.6 million. In the LTM period, November 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $11,808.4 million, resulting in an average deal value of $787.2 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of November 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 15 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $787.2 million during that month.
Of the 127 deals, the deal secured between DoorDash Inc and Wolt Enterprises Oy, was the largest M&A deal in the Global Foodservice sector, which was valued at $8,100.8 million and was completed on November 9, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Hyatt Hotels Corp and Apple Leisure Group, while the third-largest deal was between Booking Holdings Inc and Etraveli Group. The Hyatt Hotels Corp-Apple Leisure Group deal and the Booking Holdings Inc-Etraveli Group deal were valued at $2,700.0 million and $1,835.7 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Restaurant Brands International Inc-Firehouse Restaurant Group Inc valued at $1,000.0 million, whereas the deal between MIH Food Delivery Holdings B.V.-Delivery Hero SE valued at $868.2 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $14,504.8 million and accounted for nearly 57.25% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. By region, Europe accounted for 53.39% of the total M&A deals done globally, and recorded a total deal value of $12,286.3 million, which accounted for 25.00% of the total deal size on a global scale.
