Global: Five largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deals by value in the Foodservice sector (LTM June 2022)

A total of 381 Private Equity/Venture Financing deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Global Foodservice sector, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $53,353.9 million. In the LTM period, July 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $19,093.6 million, resulting in an average deal value of $615.9 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of November 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 37 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $182.8 million during that month.
Of the 762 deals, the deal secured between Market Bidco Limited and Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the Global Foodservice sector, which was valued at $13,339.6 million and was completed on August 19, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Oppidum Bidco Limited and Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc, while the third-largest deal was between CVC Capital Partners Fund VIII and Ekaterra. The Oppidum Bidco Limited-Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc deal and the CVC Capital Partners Fund VIII-Ekaterra deal were valued at $13,051.6 million and $5,104.5 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Cascade Investment LLC-Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts valued at $2,210.0 million, whereas the deal between SoftBank Group Corp-Yanolja Co Ltd valued at $1,700.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $35,405.8 million and accounted for nearly 66.36% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. By region, Europe accounted for 74.39% of the total Private Equity/Venture Financing deals done globally, and recorded a total deal value of $39,664.7 million, which accounted for 20.53% of the total deal size on a global scale.
