In the LTM period, April 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $59,226.8 million, resulting in an average deal value of $4,230.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of August 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 29 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $55.7 million during that month.
Of the 225 deals, the deal secured between AustralianSuper Pty Ltd; Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan and Greencross Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Healthcare sector, which was valued at $3,500.0 million and was completed on June 7, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Samsung Biologics Co Ltd and Samsung Bioepis Co Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between AIA Company Limited and China Post Life Insurance Company Ltd. The Samsung Biologics Co Ltd-Samsung Bioepis Co Ltd deal and the AIA Company Limited-China Post Life Insurance Company Ltd deal were valued at $2,300.0 million and $1,860.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between HDFC Life Insurance Co Ltd-Exide Life Insurance Company Ltd valued at $915.5 million, whereas the deal between EBOS Group Ltd-Lifehealthcare Group Ltd valued at $833.8 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $9,409.3 million and accounted for nearly 11.43% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 23.10% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 2.33% of the total deal size on a global scale.
