On the other hand, the month of November 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 8 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $104.0 million during that month.
Of the 33 deals, the deal secured between Samsung Biologics Co Ltd and Samsung Bioepis Co Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Pharmaceuticals sector, which was valued at $2,300.0 million and was completed on January 27, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co Ltd and Chengdu Antkin Biotechnology Co Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between PTT Public Co Ltd and Alvogen Emerging Markets Holdings Ltd. The Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co Ltd-Chengdu Antkin Biotechnology Co Ltd deal and the PTT Public Co Ltd-Alvogen Emerging Markets Holdings Ltd deal were valued at $627.3 million and $475.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Adams Aus Bidco Pty Ltd-1300SMILES Limited (Townsville) valued at $166.0 million, whereas the deal between Zhejiang Zuoli Pharmaceutical Co Ltd-Zhejiang Top Pharmaceutical Co Ltd valued at $156.9 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $3,725.2 million and accounted for nearly 71.89% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 4.15% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 11.11% of the total deal size on a global scale.
