Global: Five largest Debt Offering deals by value in the Pharmaceuticals sector (LTM June 2022)

  • A total of 142 Debt Offering deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Global Pharmaceuticals sector, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $52,512.1 million. In the LTM period, December 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $8,676.6 million, resulting in an average deal value of $667.4 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of September 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 42 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $105.5 million during that month.

  • Of the 142 deals, the deal secured between NantCapital, LLC and ImmunityBio Inc, was the largest Debt Offering deal in the Global Pharmaceuticals sector, which was valued at $300.0 million and was completed on December 20, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Bank of America Corp; CTBC Bank Co Ltd; Emirates NBD Bank; Fifth Third Bank; ING Bank NV; KEB Hana Bank Russia; Mashreq Bank Qatar; MUFG Bank Ltd; Qatar National Bank S.A.Q. (Singapore); Siemens Bank GmbH and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Government of Tamil Nadu. The Bank of America Corp; CTBC Bank Co Ltd; Emirates NBD Bank; Fifth Third Bank; ING Bank NV; KEB Hana Bank Russia; Mashreq Bank Qatar; MUFG Bank Ltd; Qatar National Bank S.A.Q. (Singapore); Siemens Bank GmbH-Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd deal and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development-Government of Tamil Nadu deal were valued at $228.0 million and $150.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank-Fosun Industrial Co Ltd valued at $100.0 million, whereas the deal between Credit Agricole CIB SA-Nipro Corp valued at $69.1 million was the fifth-largest deal.

  • Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $847.1 million and accounted for nearly 1.61% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. By region, North America accounted for 51.77% of the total Debt Offering deals done globally, and recorded a total deal value of $27,190.8 million, which accounted for 65.73% of the total deal size on a global scale.
