Yulong Mine in Tibet, was the largest copper-producing mine in China, producing approximately 116.2 thousand tonnes of copper and an estimated 0.4 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Yulong Mine is owned by Western Mining Group Co., Ltd., and is due to operate until 2036. The second largest copper-producing mine with an estimated copper production of 109.5 thousand tonnes and an estimated 17.19 mmtpa of ROM, was the Heilongjiang Duobaoshan Copper Mine located in Tibet. The Heilongjiang Duobaoshan Copper Mine is owned by Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd, and is due to operate until 2048.
Pulang Copper Mine located in Yunnan was the third-largest mine, the Jiama Mine located in Tibet was the fourth-largest mine, and the Zijinshan Gold & Copper Mine located in Fujian was the fifth-largest mine, with a total copper production of 96.8 thousand tonnes, 86.4 thousand tonnes and 85.1 thousand tonnes, respectively, in 2021. The Pulang Copper Mine, the Jiama Mine and the Zijinshan Gold & Copper Mine had an estimated ROM production of 11.46 mmtpa, 7.66 mmtpa and 29.63 mmtpa respectively. The Pulang Copper Mine is owned by Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd which is due to operate until 2042, the Jiama Mine is owned by China Gold International Resources Corp. Ltd. which is due to operate until 2050 and the Zijinshan Gold & Copper Mine is owned by Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd which is due to operate until 2042.
The five largest copper mines, i.e., Yulong Mine, Heilongjiang Duobaoshan Copper Mine, Pulang Copper Mine, Jiama Mine, and Zijinshan Gold & Copper Mine, cumulatively produced approximately 494 thousand tonnes of copper, 66.36 mmtpa of ROM in 2021.
