Cadia Mine in New South Wales, Australia, was the largest gold-producing mine in the Oceania, producing approximately 32.51 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021 and an estimated 764.9 thousand ounces of Gold in 2021. The Cadia Mine is owned by Newcrest Mining Ltd and is due to operate until 2028. The second largest gold-producing mine with an estimated gold production of 478.7 thousand ounces and 8.19 mmtpa of ROM, was the Kalgoorlie Mine located in New South Wales, Australia. The Kalgoorlie Mine is owned by Northern Star Resources Ltd, and is due to operate until 2036.
Telfer Mine located in Western Australia, Australia was the third-largest mine, the Macraes Goldfield Mines located in Otago, New Zealand was the fourth-largest mine and the Mount Morgans Gold Project located in Western Australia, Australia was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated gold production of 416.1 thousand ounces, 130.3 thousand ounces and 106.9 thousand ounces, respectively, in 2021. The Telfer Mine, the Macraes Goldfield Mines and the Mount Morgans Gold Project had an estimated ROM production of 25.26 mmtpa, 4.91 mmtpa and 3.92 mmtpa respectively. The Telfer Mine is owned by Newcrest Mining Ltd which is due to operate until 2024, the Macraes Goldfield Mines is owned by OceanaGold Corp which is due to operate until 2028 and the Mount Morgans Gold Project is owned by Dacian Gold Ltd which is due to operate until 2027.
The five largest gold mines, i.e., Cadia Mine, Kalgoorlie Mine, Telfer Mine, Macraes Goldfield Mines, and Mount Morgans Gold Project, cumulatively produced approximately 1,896.9 thousand ounces of gold, 74.79 mmtpa of ROM in 2021.
