A total of 185 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Oil & Gas of the Asia-Pacific region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $60,947.4 million. In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $22,818.6 million, resulting in an average deal value of $1,755.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of June 2022 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 25 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $41.7 million during that month.
Of the 185 deals, the deal secured between APA Group and AusNet Services Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Oil & Gas sector, which was valued at $11,080.9 million and was completed on September 20, 2021. The second-largest deal was between ENEOS Holdings Inc and Japan Renewable Energy Corp, while the third-largest deal was between Ampol Ltd and Z Energy Ltd. The ENEOS Holdings Inc-Japan Renewable Energy Corp deal and the Ampol Ltd-Z Energy Ltd deal were valued at $1,800.0 million and $1,782.7 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between ConocoPhillips-Australia Pacific LNG Pty Ltd valued at $1,645.0 million, whereas the deal between JERA Co Inc-Aboitiz Power Corp valued at $1,580.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $17,888.6 million and accounted for nearly 29.35% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 23.61% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 2.98% of the total deal size on a global scale.
