Of the 29 deals, the deal secured between Indorama Ventures PCL and Oxiteno SA Industria E Comercio, was the largest M&A deal in the South and Central America Oil & Gas sector, which was valued at $1,300.0 million and was completed on August 16, 2021. The second-largest deal was between CPFL Comercializacao de Energia Cone Sul Ltda. (CPFL Cone Sul) and Companhia Estatual de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica (CEEE-T), while the third-largest deal was between Inversiones Cachagua SpA and AES Andes SA. The CPFL Comercializacao de Energia Cone Sul Ltda. (CPFL Cone Sul)-Companhia Estatual de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica (CEEE-T) deal and the Inversiones Cachagua SpA-AES Andes SA deal were valued at $520.0 million and $517.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Hoegh LNG Holdings Ltd-Hoegh LNG Partners LP valued at $513.4 million, whereas the deal between Compass Gas e Energia SA-Petrobras Gas SA valued at $388.9 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $3,239.3 million and accounted for nearly 57.74% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The South and Central America region accounted for 2.17% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 0.70% of the total deal size on a global scale.
