A total of 40 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Packaging of the Asia-Pacific region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $1,364.2 million. In the LTM period, October 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $326.0 million, resulting in an average deal value of $81.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of November 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 7 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $32.0 million during that month.
Of the 40 deals, the deal secured between Changde City Development Group Co. Ltd. and Zhejiang Zhongcheng Packing Material Co., Ltd., was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Packaging sector, which was valued at $316.6 million and was completed on October 18, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Kolmar Korea Co Ltd and Yonwoo Co., Ltd., while the third-largest deal was between Toppan Inc and Max Speciality Films. The Kolmar Korea Co Ltd-Yonwoo Co., Ltd. deal and the Toppan Inc-Max Speciality Films deal were valued at $231.9 million and $181.4 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between FP Corp; Mitsui & Co Ltd-Lee Soon Seng Plastic Industries Sdn Bhd valued at $124.8 million, whereas the deal between Daiyang Metal Co Ltd-Young Poong Paper Mfg Co.,Ltd. valued at $101.4 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $956.2 million and accounted for nearly 70.09% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 8.95% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 18.68% of the total deal size on a global scale.
