Of the 91 deals, the deal secured between SIG Combibloc Group Ltd and Scholle IPN Corporation, was the largest M&A deal in the Global Packaging sector, which was valued at $1,521.4 million and was completed on February 1, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Sonoco Products Co and Ball Metalpack, while the third-largest deal was between Ardagh Group SA and Consol Holdings Ltd. The Sonoco Products Co-Ball Metalpack deal and the Ardagh Group SA-Consol Holdings Ltd deal were valued at $1,350.0 million and $1,000.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between BillerudKorsnas AB-Verso Corp valued at $970.0 million, whereas the deal between Alpek SAB de CV-OCTAL Holding & Co SAOC valued at $620.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $5,461.4 million and accounted for nearly 37.47% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. By region, North America accounted for 49.56% of the total M&A deals done globally, and recorded a total deal value of $7,552.8 million, which accounted for 24.18% of the total deal size on a global scale.
