A total of 165 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Power & Utilities of the Asia-Pacific region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $31,684.9 million. In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $14,139.7 million, resulting in an average deal value of $1,010.0 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of June 2022 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 22 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $23.8 million during that month.
Of the 165 deals, the deal secured between APA Group and AusNet Services Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Power & Utilities sector, which was valued at $11,080.9 million and was completed on September 20, 2021. The second-largest deal was between JERA Co Inc and Aboitiz Power Corp, while the third-largest deal was between Shell Overseas Investments BV and Solenergi Power Pvt Ltd. The JERA Co Inc-Aboitiz Power Corp deal and the Shell Overseas Investments BV-Solenergi Power Pvt Ltd deal were valued at $1,580.0 million and $1,550.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Toyota Tsusho Corp-Eurus Energy Holdings Corp valued at $1,454.1 million, whereas the deal between HOCHTIEF Australia Holdings Limited-CIMIC Group Ltd valued at $1,052.6 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $16,717.7 million and accounted for nearly 52.76% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 31.05% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 5.11% of the total deal size on a global scale.
