A total of 82 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Power & Utilities of the Europe region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $33,295.0 million. In the LTM period, May 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $10,441.6 million, resulting in an average deal value of $3,480.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of June 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 13 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $243.7 million during that month.
Of the 82 deals, the deal secured between Cretaceous Bidco Ltd and ContourGlobal plc, was the largest M&A deal in the Europe Power & Utilities sector, which was valued at $6,140.0 million and was completed on May 17, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Siemens Energy AG and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA, while the third-largest deal was between Credit Agricole Assurances SA; Engie SA and Eolia Renovables de Inversiones SCR SA. The Siemens Energy AG-Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA deal and the Credit Agricole Assurances SA; Engie SA-Eolia Renovables de Inversiones SCR SA deal were valued at $4,263.3 million and $2,300.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Vertiv Holdings Co-E+I Engineering Ltd; Powerbar Gulf LLC valued at $2,000.0 million, whereas the deal between Veleta BidCo S.a r.l.-SolarPack Corporacion Tecnologica SL valued at $1,288.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $15,991.2 million and accounted for nearly 48.03% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Europe region accounted for 32.63% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 5.41% of the total deal size on a global scale.
