In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $12,961.6 million, resulting in an average deal value of $925.8 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 27 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $49.7 million during that month.
Of the 220 deals, the deal secured between APA Group and AusNet Services Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Retail & Wholesale sector, which was valued at $11,080.9 million and was completed on September 20, 2021. The second-largest deal was between AustralianSuper Pty Ltd; Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan and Greencross Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between EMART Inc and eBay Korea Co., Ltd.. The AustralianSuper Pty Ltd; Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan-Greencross Ltd deal and the EMART Inc-eBay Korea Co., Ltd. deal were valued at $3,500.0 million and $3,061.6 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Ampol Ltd-Z Energy Ltd valued at $1,782.7 million, whereas the deal between Bomun Clean Energy Ltd; Youngsan Clean Energy Ltd-Haeyang Energy Co Ltd; Sorabol City Gas Co Ltd valued at $731.5 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $20,156.7 million and accounted for nearly 60.64% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 24.56% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 3.19% of the total deal size on a global scale.
