On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 14 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $56.8 million during that month.
Of the 77 deals, the deal secured between China MeiDong Auto Holdings Ltd and StarChase Motorsports Limited, was the largest M&A deal in the China Retail & Wholesale sector, which was valued at $580.6 million and was completed on December 13, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Jiangsu New Retail Innovation Fund (Limited Partnership) and Suningcom Group Co Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between China Resources Gas Group Ltd and Chongqing Gas Group Corp Ltd. The Jiangsu New Retail Innovation Fund (Limited Partnership)-Suningcom Group Co Ltd deal and the China Resources Gas Group Ltd-Chongqing Gas Group Corp Ltd deal were valued at $498.8 million and $364.6 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Yunnan Jianzhijia Health-Chain Co Ltd-Hebei Tangren Pharmacy Co.,Ltd. valued at $309.5 million, whereas the deal between Potash International Investment (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd-Beijing Agricultural Potassium Resources Technology Co., Ltd valued at $272.8 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $2,026.4 million and accounted for nearly 44.72% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
