A total of 547 M&A deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Global Retail & Wholesale sector, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $137,693.6 million. In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $20,843.0 million, resulting in an average deal value of $595.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of June 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 71 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $292.5 million during that month.

Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $38,613.3 million and accounted for nearly 28.04% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. By region, North America accounted for 42.78% of the total M&A deals done globally, and recorded a total deal value of $57,898.6 million, which accounted for 23.45% of the total deal size on a global scale.
