Global: Job Trends in the Retailing Sector (October 2023 - January 2024)

The number of active job postings in the Global Retailing Sector decreased by 8.72% MoM, and decreased by 28.74% since October 2023, reaching 545,108 active job postings in January 2024.
A total of 168,154 new jobs were posted in January 2024, witnessing an increase of 1.5% as compared to the previous month. On the other hand, 220,246 jobs were closed in the same month implying that companies took out 14.25% fewer jobs than the month earlier. For the period from October 2023 to January 2024, the number of new jobs posted decreased by 28.62% and the number of jobs closed decreased by 11.22%
In terms of Compound Monthly Growth Rate (CMGR) between October 2023 and January 2024, the number of new jobs posted observed a negative growth rate of 10.63%, the number of active job postings observed a negative growth rate of 10.68% and the number of jobs closed observed a negative growth rate of 3.89%. Between October 2023 and January 2024, the average number of jobs posted stood at 198,253, number of jobs closed stood at 256,336 and number of active jobs stood at 648,912.
