Europe: Job Trends in the Retailing Sector (October 2023 - January 2024)

The number of active job postings in the Retailing sector of the Europe region decreased by 9.28% MoM, and decreased by 21.46% since October 2023, reaching 78,604 active job postings in January 2024.
A total of 21,438 new jobs were posted in January 2024, witnessing a decrease of 4.96% as compared to the previous month. On the other hand, 29,478 jobs were closed in the same month implying that companies took out 6.97% more jobs than the month earlier. For the period from October 2023 to January 2024, the number of new jobs posted decreased by 47.02% and the number of jobs closed decreased by 28.1%
In terms of Compound Monthly Growth Rate (CMGR) between October 2023 and January 2024, the number of new jobs posted observed a negative growth rate of 19.08%, the number of active job postings observed a negative growth rate of 7.74% and the number of jobs closed observed a negative growth rate of 10.41%. Between October 2023 and January 2024, the average number of jobs posted stood at 28,915, number of jobs closed stood at 34,420 and number of active jobs stood at 89,244.
