Which areas of financial services are you most interested in and why?
I have always been a people person, so what interests me most within financial services are consumers – their behavior, and attitudes towards different financial products. Wealth management being my main focus, I follow new developments within the mass affluent and HNW individual segments of the population, and how the world surrounding them affects their investment decisions. Recently we have seen growing interest in robo-advisors and, in particular, how new technology is shaping interactions between wealth managers and clients.
What do you think will be the hottest trend in fintech in 2017?
I think the hottest trend will be digital direct-to-consumer platforms. These platforms provide investors with more independence in managing their assets, while at the same time leaving room for peer-to-peer advice and secured co-investment options. Advisors will benefit from digital social media platforms that enable them to be time- and cost-effective in managing their clients’ queries.
Which demo are you looking forward to in particular and why?
The innovation that I am most interested in is Markets Mojo. It provides investors with financial market data from around 4,000 companies and generates an estimate of their performance via an algorithm. This will allow investors to be independent in creating their own portfolios. I am really looking forward to seeing how all the demos will reveal the directions in which technological innovations are leading the financial services industry.
