GlobalData reveals top 10 electric vehicles influencers on Twitter in Q1 2020

An analysis of GlobalData’s Electric Vehicles Influencer Platform, which tracks more than 200 leading industry experts and their discussions pertaining to the emerging trends, pain areas, new fields of innovation and other popular areas on Twitter, has revealed clean energy consultant Thomas J Thias as the top influencer during the first quarter (Q1) of 2020.

Arik Ring, an energy consultant, was ranked second among the influencers contributing on electric vehicles, with an influencer score of 81, followed by B2B thought leader and tech influencer Evan Kirstel at third position with an influencer score of 77.

Among the trends, ‘electric cars’ emerged as the top trend among the influencer discussions, followed by batteries and e-bikes. The conversations around ‘electric cars’ were largely led by many automotive companies preparing to launch their electric vehicles, which include Volkswagen’s ID.3, BMW’s i4, General Motors’ Melno, Renault’s Zoe and several others.

Tesla is the most mentioned among companies on electric vehicle discussions, followed by Volkswagen and General Motors. The conversations on Tesla were largely led by the fact that Tesla became the first automaker to produce one millionth electric car and the biggest part of the US electric vehicle market with 60% share of the US electric car market. In addition, Volkswagen said that Tesla has a 10-year start on rivals when it comes to building electric cars and software.
