Hyundai bets big on SUVs for North America

Following the news that the Hyundai plans to launch twelve new SUVs for the North American market by 2021;

Bakar Sadik Agwan, Senior Automotive Consulting Analyst at GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, offers his view:

“The launch of new models by 2021 is anticipated to attract further major volume sales for Hyundai in the US – a market that has been a growing sales area for the company since 2019.

“The plans to launch new SUVs under the IC engine and xEVs are in line with company’s ‘Strategy 2025’, announced last year, which aims to make its IC engine vehicle business profitable with enhanced and new models, attaining leadership in the xEV segment and offering various services through an integrated platform.

“Hyundai North America seems to be well on-track to hit its desired targets in the region, having launched key new models, updates and a new concept vehicle in past year combined with a strong marketing campaign in the region. The success of its existing models remains a factor behind the confident move, and with its enhanced vehicle updates such as Tucson & Sonata and new vehicle additional in over next three years, Hyundai is all set to seize significant market share from the other original equipment manufacturers (OEM).”
