JP Morgan and Rothschild & Co top M&A financial advisers by value and volume in South & Central America for 2021, finds GlobalData

JP Morgan and Rothschild & Co were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in South & Central America for 2021 by value and volume, respectively. JP Morgan advised on 10 deals worth $14.9 billion, which was the highest value among all advisers tracked. Meanwhile, Rothschild & Co led in volume terms having advised on 17 deals worth $7.2 billion. A total of 1,113 M&A deals were announced in the region during 2021, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

According to GlobalData’s report, ‘Global and South & Central America M&A Report Financial Adviser League Tables 2021’, deal value for the region increased by 112.6% from $64.3 billion during 2020 to $136.7 billion during 2021.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “JP Morgan and Rothschild & Co were among the very few advisors to showcase double-digit deal volume. Meanwhile, JP Morgan also managed to surpass $10 billion mark and was just a little shy of $15 billion.

“Interestingly, JP Morgan also occupied the third position by volume while Rothschild & Co could also occupy the sixth position by value.”

Citi occupied the second position in terms of value with six deals worth $11.7 billion, followed by BTG Pactual with four deals worth $11.1 billion, Itau Unibanco with six deals worth $10.7 billion and XP Investimentos with three deals worth $10.4 billion.

Clairfield International occupied the second position in terms of volume with 13 deals worth $227 million followed by JP Morgan with 10 deals worth $14.9 billion, Lazard with 10 deals worth $5.6 billion and UBS with seven deals worth $5.2 billion.
