29 Jul, 2020 Renault will see sales surge for electric Zoe continue
Posted in AutomotiveFollowing the news that over the first half of 2020 Renault sold 37,540 electric Zoe cars in Europe, some 50% ahead of last year’s pace, making it Europe’s best-selling electric vehicle;
David Leggett, Automotive Analyst at GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, offers his view:
“The electric vehicle segment is emerging as one of the few winners in the aftermath of the severe COVID-19 impact on the automotive sector and decimated car markets.
“With around 11,000 Zoes ordered in Europe in June, it’s looking as though continued government incentives in European countries – France and Germany in particular – will mean July was a big month for the model, too.
“The sales surge for the electric Zoe is very good news for Renault at a time when sales of conventional cars are well down.
“Moreover, Renault has been clever to target investment on the car’s powertrain technology with a high capacity battery powerpack and new generation motor to boost performance and range.
“After what has seemed a very long wait for electric vehicle sales to take off, Renault looks well placed to benefit from the growth of electric car sales in both the short-term and long-term.”
