Beverage volumes rose by 6.6% during Q4 2020 in Kyrgyzstan, says GlobalData

Kyrgyzstan’s beverage industry saw its volume rise by 6.6% during Q4 2020 due to volumetric gains in all sectors, says GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

GlobalData’s report, ‘Kyrgyzstan Beverages Consumption Trends and Forecasts Tracker, Q4 2020 (Dairy and Soy Drinks, Alcoholic Drinks, Soft Drinks and Hot Drinks)’ reveals that the soft drinks sector’s sharp rise in volumes in Q4 2020 on Y-o-Y basis benefitted the beverages industry in the country.

Hot Drinks, the largest sector in the beverages industry, saw volumes rise by 4.7% in the quarter over the same quarter last year, owing to volume gains by hot tea, hot coffee and other hot drinks category volumes.

Soft Drinks, the second largest sector in the beverages industry, posted a strong growth of 15.3% in the quarter over Q4 2019, led by double-digit gains in all categories.

Tanumoy Chattopadhyay, Consumer Analyst at GlobalData, says: “Significant increase in fermented milk volumes contributed to the growth in the dairy drinks sector in the quarter, even as condensed milk, drinking yogurt and evaporated milk categories saw their volumes fall.”

Volumes in the alcoholic drinks sector grew by 1.9%, led by healthy gains in the wine and spirits categories, while flavored alcoholic beverages (FABs) posted a decline of 2.1% in the quarter on a Y-o-Y basis.

Chattopadhyay concludes: “Volumes across sectors will continue to grow in Kyrgyzstan in the coming year.”
