Artificially intelligent X-rays to improve patient outcomes in the US, says GlobalData

We can expect further artificial intelligence (AI) medical device partnerships in the coming years, according to GlobalData, as the pandemic has accelerated the use of digital health tools and technologies. The leading data and analytics company highlights the recent partnership between AI solutions provider Aidoc and medtech company Gleamer, which aims to develop AI X-ray system BoneView, as an example, noting that AI and machine learning (ML) are two of the fastest-growing technologies in the healthcare industry.

According to GlobalData’s report, ‘Tech Sentiment Polls, Q1 2022 – Thematic Research’, 69% of professionals across all industries believe that AI will deliver either slight or significant disruption to their industry.

Charlotte Newton, Thematic Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Most sectors have undergone some form of digitalization, incorporating technologies such as cloud computing, AI, and the Internet of Things (IoT) into their daily operations. GlobalData’s sentiments polls also revealed that nearly half of respondents felt more positively about AI than they did a year ago, while a similar number felt that AI will live up to its promises.”

Kamilla Kan, Medical Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “The market for AI/ML platforms is booming, set to reach $52 billion in 2024—up from $29 billion in 2019. Numerous healthcare companies are already implementing high-tech solutions into existing healthcare systems, with Airdoc and Medtech being a key example. Given the lack of healthcare specialists in US hospitals after the COVID-19 pandemic, BoneView is expected to reduce the time needed to analyze X-rays and alleviate the burden on healthcare personnel.”

AI technologies provide assistance and automation in image analysis, reducing error rates and improving patient outcomes. Aidoc’s AI platform is able to integrate and organize various AI solutions from third-party vendors into an entire network of facilities.
