Dental CAD/CAM materials market in India poised for 14.4% growth in next five years, says GlobalData

The dental computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) materials market in India is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.4% from US$157.7m in 2020 to reach US$309.5m in 2025, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

The company’s report, ‘India CAD/CAM Systems and Materials Market Outlook to 2025’, reveals that changing dietary and lifestyle habits leading to dental diseases, significant expansion of dental facilities, growing affordability and increasing preference for dental aesthetics by patients are driving the market growth.

‘CAD/CAM disc materials’ is the largest market accounting for about 92% of the CAD/CAM materials market. Both the ‘CAD/CAM disc materials’ and ‘CAD/CAM block materials’ are expected to grow in double digits over the next five years.

Bhaskar Vittal, Medical Devices Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “CAD/CAM technology improves design and fabrication of dental prostheses such as crowns, crown lays, veneers, inlays and onlays, fixed bridges, dental implant restorations and dentures.

“The dental CAD/CAM market is highly fragmented in India. Dentsply Sirona is the market leader, followed by companies such as Danaher Corporation, Ivoclar Vivadent and Carestream Dental.”

Vittal concludes: “Dental laboratories are increasingly investing in CAD/CAM technology due to factors such as higher production capabilities, competitive pricing, material savings achieved due to less wastage, fabrication process standardization and high accuracy & quality of the restorations.

“Dental laboratories have already seen a paradigm shift in using the latest technologies available. Their focus on increasing output and willingness to incur higher initial investments in CAD/CAM technology will further drive higher adoption and future market growth.”
