Retail sector witnessed 36.1% growth in deal activity during the week ended May 3 says GlobalData

The number of deals announced in the global retail sector grew by 36.1% during the week ended May 3, 2020, compared to the previous week, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “This marks the third consecutive week of growth in deal activity amid uncertainty and volatile market conditions due to the COVID-19 outbreak.”

Deal activity increased in key markets such as the US, the UK and China during the week, while France witnessed decline.

Announcement of venture financing and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deals increased by more than 100% during the week, however, debt offerings deal volume declined.
