Singapore multiplay service revenue to increase at 6% CAGR over 2021-2026, forecasts GlobalData

Multiplay service revenue in Singapore is set to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6% from US$1bn in 2021 to US$1.4bn in 2026, supported by the growing adoption of tripleplay and quadplay service bundles that yield higher average revenue per user (ARPU), forecasts GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

An analysis of GlobalData’s Singapore Multiplay Forecast Model (October 2021) indicates that the average monthly household spend on multiplay service bundles will increase from US$62.6 in 2021 to US$76.8 in 2026, primarily driven by the increasing adoption of higher value tripleplay and quadplay service bundles built on fiber optic (FTTH/B) broadband services.”

Srikanth Vaidya, Telecom Analyst at GlobalData, says: “Tripleplay services will account for the largest share of multiplay households (approximately 60%) in Singapore through the forecast period while quadplay services will see its household share grow from 10.7% in 2021 to 16.4% in 2026. Singapore’s full-fiber network agenda and investments from NetLink NBN Trust in fiber network expansions is driving increased availability and adoption of tripleplay and quadplay service bundles in the region.”

Doubleplay households, on the other hand, will see a drop in the share of total households from 30% in 2021 to 21.9% by 2026.

Vaidya concludes: “Singtel and Starhub are leveraging their vast fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network to accelerate multiplay adoption, with the goal of lowering churn and increasing revenue-generating units. Singtel will continue to lead the tripleplay and quadplay segments in terms of households through 2026, driven by promotional discounts that it offers on bundled telecom plans to attract new subscribers.”
