Twitter influencers’ sentiment was very positive during discussions about Apple’s WWDC22, finds GlobalData

Twitter influencers’ conversations around Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) surged more than 70% in 2022 when compared to 2021, according to GlobalData’s Social Media Analytics Platform. The leading data and analytics company also found that influencers had a 68% positive sentiment share of total discussions about WWDC22, with discussions relating to key announcements including iOS 16, new Lock Screen features, editable iMessages, the next generation of its CarPlay system, and the M2 chip.

Smitarani Tripathy, Social Media Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “A handful of influencers tracked on GlobalData’s Social Media Analytics platform have explained how iOS 16 will change the user experience with the customized Lock Screen. Influencers also appreciated the upgraded feature to unsend and edit messages in iMessage, as well as Apple’s announcement that it will launch Apple Pay Later. However, Apple’s decision to not mention the VR headset or Apple Glasses drove a negative sentiment among influencers.”

Below are a few of the most popular tweets captured by GlobalData’s Social Media Analytics Platform:

  1. Connie Guglielmo, Editor-in-Chief of CNET:

“The iPhone lock screen has long been a place to outwardly personalize the look of your phone, but your options have been limited. At #WWDC22  Apple says it’s giving the lock screen its biggest ever overhaul w/the next iOS release.”

  1. Vijay Sekhar Sharma, Founder of Paytm:

“Car Play upgrade is awesome! #WWDC22”

  1. Kimberly Bryant, Founder and CEO of Black Girls Code:

  1. Jeremy Kaplan, Content Director at Future plc:

  1. Adrian Weckler, Tech Editor at Irish & Sunday Independent:

“This seems significant: you’ll now be able to pay for something with Apple Pay and divide it into four payments, interest-free (Apple will handle the finance end of it). #wwdc22”

  1. Patrick O’Rourke, Managing Editor at Mobile Syrup:

“I knew it likely wasn’t coming, but I can’t help but be disappointing that Apple didn’t show off its VR headset during WWDC’s keynote. #WWDC22”

  1. Tom Warren, Senior Editor at The Verge:

“the widget and wallpaper galleries for the lockscreen in iOS 16 looks neat. There’s a lot here compared to what iOS has right now”
