The construction industry in Brazil is projected to grow by 2.5% in real terms in 2026, driven by investments in transport and energy infrastructure projects, coupled with a rise in export activity, and new construction tenders that are planned to be announced in 2026. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the construction industry’s value-add grew by 1.3% year-on-year (YoY) in Q1 2026, following a YoY fall of 2.9% in Q4 and growth of 2% in Q3 2025. According to the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC), the total value of Brazil’s exports (measured in US dollar terms) grew sharply by 14.3% YoY in April 2026, preceded by a YoY growth of 10.4% in March and 15% in February 2026. In June 2026, the government reaffirmed its strategy to unlock BRL140 billion ($23.9 billion) in railway concessions by end of 2026, with plans that include the auction of 20 cargo terminals along the North-South Railway and the introduction of innovative risk-sharing mechanisms designed to attract private investment. Growth will also be supported by investments announced as part of the 2026 budget. The government approved the 2026 Budget in December 2025, confirming a total expenditure of BRL6.5 trillion ($1.1 trillion).
GlobalData forecasts the Brazilian construction industry to record an average annual growth rate of 3.9% from 2027 to 2030, supported by investments in renewable energy projects, in line with the government's plan to increase the share of renewable energy in their total energy mix from 16% in 2021 to 45% by 2030, and reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Accordingly, in December 2025, the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) revealed the Electricity Transmission Brochure of the Decennial Energy Expansion Plan 2035 (PDE 2035). According to this, the government estimates an investment of over BRL120 billion ($20.5 billion) to improve the transmission capacity of the country by 2035.
