The Egyptian construction industry is expected to grow by 2.1% in real terms in 2026, supported by increased investment in transport projects and private investments in the industrial sector. The government revealed in August 2026 that Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) attracted 117 new projects worth approximately EGP732 billion ($7.3 billion) in its industrial areas during FY2025/26 (1st July 2025 – 30th June 2026), with the investments expected to create 73,500 jobs upon completion by 2030. The expansion is focused on developing and integrating industrial, logistics and service clusters with Mediterranean and Red Sea ports, while the SCZone aims to develop 21 industrial, logistical and service sectors. Construction and infrastructure activity will include the development and expansion of Arish Port and East Port, alongside the modernization of roads, railways and tunnels under the Arish-Taba logistical corridor, with Arish being developed as a major trade and logistics hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. The ports are also being integrated with industrial zones supporting automotive manufacturing and building-material production.
Over the remainder of the forecast period, the Egyptian construction industry is expected to register an annual average growth of 6.5% between 2027 and 2030, supported by investments in transport infrastructure, renewable energy and industrial projects. Growth will also be driven by the country’s plan to increase the renewable energy’s share in its energy mix to over 42% by 2030 and 60% by 2040. In June 2026, the government allocated EGP60 billion ($1.2 billion) to the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to upgrade and expand the national transmission grid, enabling it to integrate additional renewable-energy generation and meet rising electricity demand. The funding will support grid reinforcement and capacity expansion projects aimed at improving electricity reliability and stability. The investment forms part of Egypt’s wider plan to accelerate solar and wind power development.
