The EU voted to implement updated data protection laws in the form of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in April 2016. GDPR came into force on May 25, 2018, providing EU citizens with greater rights and control regarding the processing and distribution of their personal data. This has impacted businesses globally as they adapt their practices in order to comply with this new legislation.
This report provides an assessment of how the healthcare industry expects GDPR to affect the healthcare sector, both within and outside of EU. This study will be repeated in six months, to gauge the changing sentiment towards GDPR from within the healthcare industry.

Scope

GlobalData’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the Healthcare Industry – Implications for Healthcare – H1 2018 provides in-house analyst expertise on the results of a 10 minute survey of 494 GlobalData clients and prospects which was fielded from May 24, 2018 to May 29, 2018. Of these participants, 100 were from healthcare or related industries; only the responses from these participants were analyzed for this report. Comparisons to other industries were included where relevant.
