Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by inflammation of the joints, bone and cartilage erosion, and joint deformity. The condition manifests itself in multiple joints in the body. RA is the result of an immune response in which the body’s immune system attacks its own healthy cells, especially the lining of the joints, known as the synovial membrane, or synovium, causing an inflammatory response.
