• French sales of cigarettes and fine-cut tobacco increased by 11.2% and 11.4% respectively compared with May 2015.

• Japan Tobacco reported sales of 8.8 billion pieces, an increase of 1.1% compared with the previous month.

• In Spain, sales of cigarettes in June 2016 amounted to 4,223 million pieces, an increase of 0.3% over the same time last year

• In the US, cigarette consumption dropped to 20,563 million pieces, compared with 22,536 million pieces in May 2015. Both domestic output and imports were lower in 2016
