More sustainable Pringles may boost sales, says GlobalData

Following the news that the iconic Pringles can is undergoing a redesign to become more sustainable;

Ryan Whittaker, Consumer Analyst at GlobalData, offers his view:

Re-designing the Pringles packaging is absolutely the right decision for Kellogg’s in this climate. GlobalData’s most recent consumer survey* found that sustainability remains a big issue during the pandemic with 38% of global consumers saying that sustainability is as important as before COVID-19 and 18% saying that it is significantly more important than before the pandemic. Furthermore, 12% said sustainability is now their top priority.

“Two new designs are being trialled in Tesco stores, and GlobalData expects them to not damage Pringles’ sales. The move could even boost sales due to press coverage. Other difficult-to-recycle brands are likely to follow suit in the coming months, if it is a success.”
