Tesvolt confident of continuing operations amidst COVID-19 pandemic, says GlobalData

Following the news that Tesvolt, the German manufacturer of battery storage systems, has started the production of commercial storage systems under strict safety precautions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic;

Somik Das, Power Analyst at GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, offers his view:

“Tesvolt expects growing demand despite the ongoing pandemic. Its order volumes have almost tripled for the same quarter when compared to last year. In early April 2020, Tesvolt decided to overcome concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic and launched the semi-automated production of commercial storage battery systems at its new gigafactory in Wittenberg, Germany.

“The company expects high demand for storage systems with emergency power functions, and storage systems meant for off-grid applications.

“It is planning to introduce additional measures to protect its employees and customers. The workers in production are expected to continue working in isolation from each other. The company’s battery cell supplier Samsung SDI is expected to continue production in Korea. Thus, with the consistent supply of battery cells, there would be minimal hiccups in the production plans for Tesvolt.”
