Urban China is expected to have the highest number of diagnosed incident cases of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) among the eight major markets 8MM* over the next decade (2019­-2029), according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer – Epidemiology Forecast Report to 2029, reveals that the diagnosed incident cases of NSCLC across 8MM are expected to increase from 0.79 million in 2019 to 1.03 million in 2029, at an annual growth rate (AGR) of 3.01%.

Of the 8MM, urban China is expected to have the highest number of diagnosed incident cases in 2029 with 0.46 million cases, and increasing at an AGR of 5.32% (2019­–2029), followed by Spain at an AGR 2.22% and the US at an AGR 2.13%.

Suneedh Manthri, Associate Project Manager of Epidemiology at GlobalData, comments: “The major drivers for the upward trend of diagnosed incident cases of NSCLC across the 8MM over the next decade can be attributable to the increase in the exposure to environmental tobacco smoke coupled with an increase in the tobacco smoking trend among men and women in the past decades prior to the diagnosis of NSCLC.

“NSCLC is a condition with a poor prognosis and the disease is symptomatic only at the late stages, screening for early diagnosis can improve survival and offer better quality of life.”
