Top 10 Financial Advisors in Financial Services Industry in the World in 2021 by Deal Value

In terms of the geographic split, 7 out of 10 of the world’s top 10 financial advisors in the financial services industry are headquartered in North America, whereas the remaining 3 are based in Europe. They employed a total of 1,016,342 people in 2021. The Bank of Montreal-Bank of the West deal was one of the major deals in the financial services sector in 2021. BMO Capital Markets and Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC served as financial advisors to Bank of the West, while Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP served as exclusive financial advisors to Bank of Montreal. Bank of Montreal, a Canada-based investment bank and financial services company, has agreed to acquire Bank of the West, a US-based provider of personal, commercial, wealth management, and international banking services, from BNP Paribas SA, a France-based provider of financial services, for $16.3 billion. The Bank of Ireland Group-J&E Davy deal was another major deal in the financial services sector in 2021. IBI Corporate Finance and Credit Suisse International served as financial advisors to the Bank of Ireland. Bank of Ireland Group Plc, a provider of retail and commercial banking services, has acquired J&E Davy Holdings Ltd (Davy Group), a provider of wealth management, capital markets, and financial advisory services, for an enterprise value of EUR427 million ($458.25 million). As part of the transaction, 25% of the enterprise value will be paid two years after completion subject to Davy shareholders meeting. In addition, further payments of up to EUR40 million will be payable from 2025, contingent on future business model performance. The deal was completed in Q2 2022.
